I couldn't go a week without the obligatory flower shot, and since this periwinkle flower (vinca minor vine) is a beautiful shade of purple, it serves two purposes. I can't imagine there will be too many more garden pictures, so let's enjoy it while we can.
According to Gardening Central, the periwinkle flower is similar to a shrub but it is actually a bit shorter. Some people call it a sub shrub. This flower will spread quickly because it will generally take root wherever it touches the ground. It will grow anywhere between eight and thirty inches tall. It can be used along hillsides to help with erosion because it will spread quickly. It may also be a wonderful flower to plant in your garden if you want to keep the weeds down.
