Operation Christmas Child by allie912

Operation Christmas Child

This morning during the monthly breakfast at church we packed boxes for the program "Operation Christmas Child", the mission of which is "To demonstrate God's love in a tangible way to needy children around the world." Over the last few months we have been collecting small items that will travel well, appropriate for children of different ages. And this morning we filled boxes for delivery to countries around the world. (This Christmas, I understand, many of the boxes will be going to Haiti.) We filled about 50 boxes with toothbrushes, yo-yos, crayons, playdoh, dolls, socks and other goodies which we hope will make a blessed Christmas for some deserving kids.
My campus ministry did this two years in a row, I think we had over 100 boxes last year, it was amazing!

That is such a great ministry. My Wife, along with her Mother and twin Sister will be traveling to Charlotte NC to help in a similar ministry right after Thanksgiving. They will be spending a week there packaging boxes.

What a wonderful program. With the big, commercialized production that Christmas has become, it's often easy to forget about those less fortunate. Hopefully putting together those boxes helped remind everyone of just how fortunate we are.

What a wonderful cause and I think the Haitian children will especially enjoy these gifts.

Such a great program Allison. As all the kids here beg for iPods and PS3's, it's always humbling to know these simple things will be just as powerful.
