Here in central Virginia, we had barely a flake of snow, after all the hype from the weathermen. Our school, being independent, is able to react more nimbly than the public school systems, so we had a full school day while the public schools had a delayed opening and then threw in the towel and remained closed. In their defense, it was below freezing all day. It definitely felt like the depths of winter.
Imagine my surprise when I walked outside the library and saw the first shoots of daffodils beginning to push up out of the mulch. Immediately the day felt brighter. Maybe Spring is not right around the corner but it beckons and we gratefully respond.
Yay for signs of new growth! I always look forward to seeing the crocuses poking up, since they're our first indicators that spring is on the way, and the first daffodils are never far behind.
shocked---where did you find that????
