As soon as we return from Thanksgiving vacation, the turkey books are shelved and we gear up for the fast approaching holidays of Hanukkah and Christmas. This year The Festival of Lights begins on December 8, so both holidays get time in the spotlight. My favorite Hanukkah story to read aloud is "Herschel and the Hanukkah Goblins" by Eric Kimmel. Although it isn't kosher, all the great characters in this story enable me to give rein to my inner ham.
@digitalrn I checked our library catalog and we have 89 titles with Hanukkah as a subject or keyword and 648 books about Christmas. Not very balanced but it represents the ratio in our school and in publishing.
