Gearing Up by allie912

Gearing Up

Stopped off to visit my friend Ellen in her science lab this afternoon. She works with students in Grades One and Two, and, as you can imagine, their lessons are all experiential. Here you see some different gears for a lesson on simple machines. Ellen pointed out a piece of tape she had fastened to one of the beater blades so the kids can watch how many revolutions the beaters make as the handle makes one complete turn. This egg beater may be an old-fashioned device from the past but I know I could not have invented it. In fact, if humankind were dependent on my engineering skills, we'd all be eating raw meat and grass.
I hear you Allison. Society would be lacking if they depended on me.

Love the wooden gears. Okay, I love anything with gears, but these are very nice :)

Tools as a subject usually doesn't catch my attention- you made it really cool looking, with great focus & tones!

allison, we have one of those "old-fashioned devices from the past" in our kitchen drawer....a manual whisk that used to be my grandma's !!!! We still use it sometimes !!!

I am always amazed at the things that have been invented and discovered because someone had to conceive them first!

I am not mechanically inclined either so society would been lacking if it was up to me to move it forward! Nice shot.
