I love this annual event held in the quirky shopping area known as Carytown. This is the 34th year the local merchants have been sponsoring it, and it only gets better. Lots of vendors, service groups, activities for kids, musical groups, good things to eat and of course fresh watermelon for sale on almost every corner. Cary Street is closed to traffic and the whole event takes place along the one street. It is a very festive, friendly and timeless event.
Nothing says "SUMMER!" better than watermelon, so what a fun gathering with all the activities! The best communities seem to have something fun like this!
Nice job, Allison! The Watermelon Festival is always a fun time...and the fact that you can walk to it makes it all the better as parking can be a nightmare! If I hadn't sprained my ankle yesterday morning, I would have ventured out ....and even fought for a parking spot as this is always a photo-worthy event!
Love your collage, Allison. it makes us feel we're right there with you. I love these kind of festivities. we just had one called "The Taste of the Danforth" held in a Greek community in Toronto with lots of entertainment and the famous Greek cuisine.
