A mother stopped by the library last week to offer some books that her children had outgrown, now that they have moved on to the upper grades. Of course we thanked her for her donation, expecting a dozen or so old books. This week she returned with heavy duty shopping bags filled to the brim with all the greatest, most popular series ( including 3 “Mine craft books that are sure to send our gamers into paroxysms of delight) These will easily replace the worn out copies of Julie B. Jones, Magic Tree House, Secrets of Droon and practically any other set of books Second, Third and Fourth Graders love. What a generous gift to the entire Collegiate Lower School community!
That is amazing--such a wonderful donation! I found this a very encouraging story in this winter of discontent--a generous parent; kids loving books; a school, parents and librarians who really care.
How wonderful for the school kids. Was the set with "Swallows and Amazons" in the collection? Arther Ransom (I think), my kids read those over and over again and still have them in their collection and they are in their mid 30s.
