I walked to Carytown to enjoy all the pleasures of the Watermelon Festival, including a bowl of sweet refreshing watermelon for $1. Other treats included the wonderful aromas of so much good grilled and barbecued chicken and other meats, bands playing on every other street corner, booths for all kinds of service organizations for dogs, good health, yoga, insurance. Local honey, soap, jewelry, art clothing. Book signings by local authors. Dogs, dogs and more dogs! (But no cats) and smiles on everyone’s faces. What a lovely day it was.
