Nothing says summer like the sound of the ice cream truck rolling through your neighborhood. I was upstairs at my computer when I heard the hypnotic strains of the Good Humor truck. As fast as I could get my shoes on, I was down the stairs and out the door. Not to get an ice cream bar but even better, a good picture. Well do you know this truck was like the elusive butterfly of love, always one block ahead of me no matter how fast i hustled to catch up to him. Finally about 6 blocks from where I first spotted him, he paused long enough for me to snap a few pictures. These 2 customers were so excited they couldn't wait for the driver to pop his head out. You can see one little boy ready to climb up and over.
And did you have an ice cream too? The chase sounds very funny!! Would be fun it we all took pictures of ice cream vans to compare them round the world!
How I loved hearing the sound of the ice cream truck when I was a kid. In Melbourne the ice cream trucks were known as Mr Whippy vans.
Great catch Alison
Great pic. I'll have to remember to grab my camera the next time the "snack truck" rolls around. My grandson calls them the snack trucks and he says, "You can't have something from the snack truck every day because then it wouldn't be special."
Very great shot! It captures the excitement of the little boy wonderfully; very full of a summer feel! I wish where I lived had an ice cream truck. I'd probably get pictures AND a treat ;).
Such an iconic summer image! I didn't live in a neighborhood when I was a kid, but I always looked forward to the sound of the ice cream truck at the beach. That was the one thing that got me to come out of the water. Cherry and watermelon Italian ices were always my favorite!
Great catch Alison
