Stop and Smell the Flowers

photo 782
I'm happy to see that my new camera can get a close up as well as a telephoto picture. I don't know what kind of flower this is. Perhaps you could identify it from this picture

I think it is the white fave flower, because that's what I did, faved it. Great detail and the flower is so delicate and pretty

I looked through my Audubon book 3 times and I can't seem to match both flower and leaves so I'm unwilling to venture a guess! But I like Terry's alternative name since I followed suit and fav'd it too!

@olivetreeann @sarasdadandmom Thanks for the faves. I guess I'll have to go to the source of all garden wisdom at school, the science teacher, to see if she knows.

It is different, and I am not good with flower names. Almost looks like Lilly of the Valley

I checked out Lilly of the Valley, nope. I said I wasn't good with flower names.

Love the way it focused so nicely on the flower...looks like you made a great investment in that new camera, Allison!

@allie912 I had jumped over to your other shot and written up what I thought the flower was but when I went to post the comment it wanted me to sign up for flikir. I forgot to come back here and rewrite it. So let's see if I can remember. It's called "Lizard's Tail" because of the shape of the flower fronds which is emphasized by its genus and common name "Sauro" (Lizard) and "ourus" (tail). It is mostly a southern plant which is found in marshy and the margin areas of swamps.
