Three Degrees of Separation

Picture book author Mary Jo Beswick came to our reading camp this morning to talk to the campers about writing stories. Her book is charming, and she was an enthusiastic speaker, sharing tips with the kids about creating storyboards for their own stories. But that is not even the best part. Based on her last name, I asked if she had at one time lived in Massachusetts. My guess was correct. She is the mother of two brothers who are best friends with Meg's husband John. Mary Jo and her husband moved to Virginia for her husband's work, but I had no idea where she currently lived or that she had written a book. What a small, wonderful world!
