Down in the Mud

The most beautiful sights are often found hanging out in the grubbiest spots. I know this is a butterfly but my identifier page couldn't come up with anything close to this image. Any ideas?

Looks like a Red Admiral to me but I don't know my US butterflies. Great contrast here, good spot.

@Cherrill Bingo! According to Wikipedia, you are exactly right. Another interesting factoid from Wikipedia: The Red Admiral is the butterfly featured by Vladimir Nabokov, an amateur lepidopterist, in his novel Pale Fire.
