I had this shot idea months ago when the music to photo theme was going on and forgot all about it. I came across it on a brainstorming list this week and decided to pull it off finally today. Anyone remember this great song that inspired this shot? I've been listening to New Order all night. I had forgotten how much I liked them.
This is hysterical!! I just showed it to Jim who said (quote): "That is great!" He feels empathy for your husband. I love the shot--it's capturing quintessential 365 addiction and the effect on families.
Oh yes brilliant FAV! My whole family can relate including my sister and my dad who are former 365ers and their spouses. In fact, if you click here you will see what my dad gave my mom for their 52 wedding anniversary.... He never said that was the gift but I'm pretty sure since his project ended abruptly. http://365project.org/gene/365/2012-02-05
@losthorizon This was an idea I had around the same time (I think just after) the last song to music challenge. I figured you'd appreciate it as the challenge setter. I'd held onto the idea for awhile, but couldn't wait any longer.:)
@seanoneill Amazed by the difference in quality of my cameras. I wanted the quality of my main camera, but wanted to be holding that in the shot. Ha...I remember Joy Division, too. Thanks for your comments, my friend!
i love the song, but i never really understood it... great picture and oh so true! (altho* i am convinced that my husband humours my addiction as a way of assuaging his guilt for spending most of his time at home watching sports or talking with the boys about sports ;p)
@tbats22 Love that you liked this enough to fav!! Love how so many of us can relate to this, too. Thanks, my friend. What killed me was shooting with my old camera so that the regular one could be in the shot. It's amazing the difference the camera makes!!
@m9f9l Thanks so much for your comments and fav, Mary!!!
@nana2r Aw, thank you so much for the fav, lady. Love your dad's shot of your mom and his sweet words. They are cute!!!
@taffy Thanks so much, Taffy. So glad that you and Jim enjoyed and could relate to it:)! I'll bet many spouses and significant others would appreciate this.
This made me laugh out loud - great idea - brilliantly done!! Can so relate to this (poor long-suffering Pete!) and love New Order too (needed reminding though!) : )
Brilliant Amanda. I'm a big New Order fan and love the song. Think things are the same in this household but I think my partner likes that I am occupied and not bothering her :)
Phenomenal photo. I was trying to read way too much into it... Watched the whole video and read the lyrics... Looks ked for a "shot of blue" coming out of the camera,... and then I just sat back and enjoyed the song and the great photo (how good of him to do it!)
So far I've been fortunate... my wife has been super supportive, saying that my latest addiction is at least creative and productive. ;^)
@squamloon Love that you were reading so much into it. How funny. It was only the title that I was going with really. The bizarre love triangle being between camera, hubby and me:). Mine is somewhat supportive. Mostly so. But does get annoyed with me a bit, too. Bolt of blue coming out of the camera would have been cool...next time:).
@rennes Yeah, glad it gave you a laugh. Funny how you forget about bands once loved. It was a good reminder for me and I've been singing them for days now. Thanks, Lisa!
@adamj Thanks so much, my friend. I only wish that the quality had been the same as my main camera. I wanted that one in the shot. Can't believe it's June already!!!
So so glad that you all enjoyed this photo and many could relate to the bizarre love triangle between your camera and your other loves. I had funnier versions where I was making these amazingly horrendous faces (man, I sure hope that I am not THAT ugly when shooting photos). Perhaps I was just hamming it up for the camera. I hope. Appreciate your comments and glad that I could remind you of New Order and/or introduce you to them. I've been singing the song all week...
fun and playful! love your creative splurge! my husband loved this. very clever and cute, and i fear the representative image of most of us on 365 (subbing out your husband possibly for a child, a parent, a dog...!)

VERY clever shot. I hope he got a big smooch when the photo session was over.
