The Girl on the Fairy Tale Bridge by alophoto

The Girl on the Fairy Tale Bridge

We went to the park today. When I saw this cute little blonde girl peering over the side of the stone bridge, I knew that this would be my shot of the day.

Wonderfully famed by the trees love the stonework of the bridge and the girl in the pop of red completes this superb image !
June 7th, 2013
Fab composition with the pop of red from the girls top. Reminds me of playing poo sticks
June 7th, 2013
what a sweet bridge - this is a lovely modern day fairy tale :)
June 7th, 2013
Love the textures on the bridge and the pop of red.
June 7th, 2013
It's a lovely bridge and the little girl makes a great focal point.
June 7th, 2013
Great find and capture. Love that bridge.
June 7th, 2013
what a beautiful place!
June 7th, 2013
cute shot indeed.
June 7th, 2013
Cute! Perfect with that orange shirt to contrast with the lovely greens too.
June 7th, 2013
Sweet shot with a great pov! Looks like a wonderful bridge with so much photographic potential. You'll have to revisit another time!
June 7th, 2013
Aren't you glad you had your camera with you?! :)
June 7th, 2013
obsessed with that bridge. looks cool
June 8th, 2013
Love the old bridge and the girl is an added bonus. Love your POV
June 8th, 2013
Excellent capture, love the texture of the bridge, your POV and that splash of red.
June 8th, 2013
Perfection!! It really does have a fairytale quality.
June 8th, 2013
@masosy How is the processing? I was very unsure of it. I ended up doing an oilify thing to soften it and make it look more painterly and dreamy. This shot I didn't have focused properly perhaps (the girl wasn't my focal spot) but i just took it quick, refocused and took a few more. I happened to like her positioning the best here, though. Thanks, Ms. Goring:).
June 8th, 2013
@tbats22 I loved it, too. I was shooting it and then saw the color pop up and saw the sweet girl and started firing away. Much more interesting with the girl in there. Thank you!!
June 8th, 2013
@michaelelliott This scene today reminded me a tad of your Alice shot from Central Park. That is one of my favorite shots of yours. Loved that I caught another cute blondie only this time on the stone bridge.
June 8th, 2013
@maggiemae I adored the scene when I saw it. Just magical. I didn't have the focal point in the right point when I took this shot. It was the first shot, but turned out to be my favorite of the bunch. Thank you for the fav. I oilified the photo in processing. Is that ok, you think? I wanted to make it soft and dreamy.
June 8th, 2013
I really like the processing. For me it's about the lighting on the leaves to the left and top, it's just perfect. And that bridge has so many beautiful stones instead of concrete. Fantastic.
June 8th, 2013
Fantastic capture. Such an amazing bridge! Love the stonework and the contrast to the leafy surroundings. The girl, of course, is a great focal point pulls it all together.
June 8th, 2013
Great capture! glad you had your camera
June 8th, 2013
Beautiful shot and fairy tale bridge.
June 8th, 2013
Yes -- it's a terrific shot! Great bridge and the red pops perfectly.
June 8th, 2013
You nailed it! I love it so much! The bridge alone would have been great...but add the sweet girl and it is superb!! FAV
June 8th, 2013
love this shot. the girl, the bridge and the light are all fab.
June 8th, 2013
Enchanting scene - love the pop of red. Is she playing Pooh sticks - used to love playing that game? : )
June 8th, 2013
Very sweet. Processing is great. I also thought of playing Pooh sticks.
June 8th, 2013
Cool capture! I'm with @rennes - looks like's she's playing Pooh sticks :)

June 8th, 2013
@edie I thought of you as I processed this. I kinda Ediefied it:).
June 8th, 2013
Wonderful pov and candid capture Amanda. I like the splash of red too.
June 8th, 2013
I love that.
June 8th, 2013
love this shot, perfectly fits the title! looks like it's the little Alice searching for the white rabbit, only she's wearing an orange dress. beautiful picture Amanda!
June 8th, 2013
The touch of orange make this shot! Lovely composition.
June 8th, 2013
@wind_of_the_sothern_sea Totally thought of Alice, but I didn't want to copy Michael:). Thank you!!!
June 8th, 2013
@eyesmile I loved it, too, sweet lady. Thanks so much for the fav!:)

@alia_801 @rachelwithey @rennes @fueast Oh my word, tell me about this game called Pooh sticks. Is it after Winnie the Pooh? Funny name. It must be a British thing? Drop a stick over the side and watch it plop? I think that she was watching the fish and turtles in the water. Thanks for your comments, ladies!!
June 8th, 2013
It's a race - first persons stick to come out wins. Yes check out the poo stories for its origin I think...
June 8th, 2013
Great POV,a lovely shot!!
June 8th, 2013
Totally beautiful !!
June 8th, 2013
I love it too. Looks like you have focus on the branches in front which creates interesting effect. It's always nice to get a human element in the shot. fav.
June 8th, 2013
Perfect shot of childhood.
June 8th, 2013
@bardejov Thanks so much for the fav, sweet lady!! I didn't have the camera focused in the right place here, just fired off a quick shot, but it worked enough for me to go with it. It was the best composition and lighting of the shots I took. I processed it up to be more impressionistic, too. Really appreciate that you liked it:).
June 9th, 2013
@fueast Oh, ok...thanks for sharing. I will have to look it up. With a name like poo sticks, I was kinda grossed out;-). Sounds sweet and fun, though.

Thanks so much you all for your wonderful comments about this little sweetie on the bridge. Something about the scene really did it for me. So pleased that she popped up when I was shooting and it wasn't a boring old bridge shot;-). Hope you are having a happy weekend!
June 9th, 2013
I think it's Pooh sticks...not Poo sticks. As in "Winnie"... We had an au pair from the UK for a while who played it with the girls.
June 9th, 2013
@edie Shew...my first thought was oh how gross. Like the idea of dropping sticks in and racing them, though. So sweet!
June 9th, 2013
Pooh Sticks gets its own entry in Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poohsticks
June 9th, 2013
Excellent shot, great composition, colors and light

@sparkle @darsphotos @colie @psychographer Thanks so much for your comments, sweet ladies. I loved this little girl. So glad she walked into my shot:)!
June 10th, 2013
Fab shot Amanda, hope she made a wish!
June 10th, 2013
@seanoneill She was so stinkin' cute. Loved seeing her head pop over and getting a shot in time. There were turtles, fish and ducks that were in the water below that she was probably looking at.
June 10th, 2013
Incredible! Lovely capture of curiosity.
June 17th, 2013
Beautiful composition and lovely capture of the little one's curiosity - I am very taken with your shots - Fav & following

@srechic Ah, thank you Elle!!

@kittikat You are very kind. Thanks, Kitti. Glad to have you as a new friend!:)
June 17th, 2013
What a stroke of luck to have this little pixie pop up in your frame! She adds a visual interest that really balances the shot.
Honestly the bridge and greenery is lovely on its own, but something about that little girl brings it all together.
June 27th, 2013
@pasadenarose I adored her. Perfect timing for her. Thanks, lady!!
June 27th, 2013
