I saw this scene off of a busy road a couple days ago loving the crop lines in the field. I planned to go back for some shots. Yesterday I was out and about with the kids and happened to have my camera in the car. I drove by the area and scoped out the best pov, almost running a red light stupidly. Must concentrate on driving!! Later I went back, found a place to park, jumped out and took some photos.
Ironically, a local 365 and camera club friend of mine, Shannon, spotted me and here is what she said: Hey, I just saw you photographing a field over there on Mason-Montgomery Rd. I was driving along minding my own business when I saw a van pulled in to an access road to the field with its blinkers on and I thought, "Hmmm...I wonder if that's a photographer," and then I saw you, shooting away. Sorry I couldn't stop and harrass you. Did you get good shots of something?
Love that I was spotted and Shannon assumed it was a photographer. So stinkin' funny.
It has been gray and wet here all week and it looks like it will continue into next week. The weather is driving me a little bonkers with the kids all home and outdoor summer fun activities on hold. I need some sunshine and blue skies stat!!!
love the snakey line through the fields and all the rain sure makes them green...like that you see the remnant of water stroking the grounds. and too funny on shannon spotting you!
Well done! I drive by that field semi-regularly and didn't realize it was so interesting. The lines are excellent, and the barn is the cherry on top. And yes, I assumed it was a photographer when I saw the van parked, little did I know it was YOU! :)
Love the lines in the crop, looks like all that rain has eroded a gully. Love your extensive narrative and hope you find an outlet for the kid's energy.
@wind_of_the_sothern_sea We got sun today for about a half an hour. I insisted upon a walk, took my camera and enjoyed it for a bit. At the end, the sky opened up and we got dumped on. I had my hubby run home and get the car while we waited under a canopy of trees. The bit o' light was nice, though! Thank you!
@archaeofrog Thanks so much, my Katie friend. I loved that wavy line, too!
@tonydebont Oh my goodness, me, too. It's a long summer so far! They all go to a morning VBS in another week or so for a week. Mornings all to myself will be divine. Thank you, Tony!!
@maggiemae I know, though it does look kinda nice all rusty. Thanks, lady!
@jaynspain We had a few minutes of sun today. We went out and took advantage of it and then got dumped on. It was fun, though. The warmth and vitamin D felt great!!!
@sjoblues I loved the scene. Take a look next time. I was glad to find that access road to park on. I was all set to park on their driveway. Thank you and love the laugh that you gave me and hopefully I you:)!
@cdonohoue Oh me too. We went out in the brief stint of sunshine today and were caught in a torrential downpour. And I had my camera with me. Eeeek. Done with it!!!
Love that curvy path amongst all the planting rows, leading us up to the barn. Nice lush green in this very pleasing shot too. Seems we 365ers are not only always on the look out for a photo opportunity but also for other photographers too.
@paula365 Cycles, I guess. yeah, I think that our lawn was like hay this time last year. Praying for a sunny week. Today was at least a little sunny and not rainy. Yeah!!
What a beautiful shot and love your story of taking it and another 365er seeing you there. Will gladly trade you the weather. 110 on the 4th (day 7 of the stuff), last Thursday, then the Delta Breeze arrived and has stayed but still close to the 100 degree temps mid day until Wednesday. Ying and Yang but not enough, unless like us, have our house fan for the mornings and late evenings to cool our house off. Still really dry here.
@darsphotos House fans are the best. We are finally not rainy for a day or so. It's been nice to see the sun peaking out again. Thanks so much for your sweet comments, Darlene. Stay as cool as you can and are:)!
@amandal House fans are awesome if it cools off especially in the morning unless it is a 100+ day, then it never cool off. Decided not to cool off tonight so the A/C and regular fans are on as they have been for 2 weeks or so now. It is supposed to be 99 tomorrow and no Delta Breeze. Darn. Nice that you had a dry day.
Beautiful structure to your composition - I like the way the drainage creek cuts through the plowed lines and draws the eye so beautifully to the barn - which, btw, would be an absolute beauty of a shot without the foreground to rest on - and even without the trees to embrace the building - in all - fav - a damn good shot!
Wow, great eye spotting this. So glad you didn't have an accident while scoping it out....but I do know the feeling. Such a nuisance having to watch the ROAD when driving. ;-)
You settled on a perfect composition and POV. Love the straight lines being softened by the curve of the creek, and it's all so lush and green.
Sorry you were having crummy weather. I would have gladly sent you our heat wave from the same week. Bleh! Nearly ruined my vacation, it did.
So funny that you were spotted, and that her first thought was to wonder if it was a photographer. We all have part of the same brain wiring.
And this is cool. Great pov
I am done with the rain. Had it. It's over. Kaput!
