Tonight while walking the dog, I came upon the most perfect scene for a photo. It was so good, it nearly made me cry. Perhaps I teared up because I had no camera with me. Here is what I saw: It was the harvest moon, low and orange on the horizon. It was above the gazebo and painted a wide stripe of light across the lake. It was exceptionally dark out and I realized that the gazebo lights were somehow turned off. That is when I saw them, a silhouetted couple sitting side by side watching the light of the moon. How very romantic.
I walked the dog quickly, grabbed my camera and tripod and headed back. Now the moon was much higher, but I was glad to see the couple still there. I fumbled with the tripod, tried to get everything in there (but alas the moon was too high) and took a few shots.
When I got home, uploaded and lightened the image, I felt like a creepy creep. Sorry, guys. But if you want privacy, perhaps go somewhere private and not MY gazebo.
@jsw0109 That's the topper on the gazebo. Do you see the couple? I was sooooo bummed to have missed the earlier amazing op that I saw. It would have been the pinnacle of my career (that I don't have).
@amandal oops... I thought it was a heron flying out of the trees across the way LOL.. oh well... I do see the silhouette of someone. Sorry you missed the shot you wanted. It has happened to me before.
@jsw0109 Mine is loose phrase. It's at our public lake...it's where I walk everyday. I've taken countless shots of it and at it so it's like mine. Now I know why the lights are normally on.
What a story! Great shot and terrific processing. I hate missing that perfect feeling shot so know what you mean, but this one holds its own (even with the very romantic couple).
@pablo1 Thanks so much for the fav and great comments, Pablo. The fave button is at the top of the photo. You need to click it to make it official:). Happy weekend!:)
@bobfoto Ok, I can see that. Can you see where this is, first of all and what I accidentally photographed?! What a jerk I am? I scared them off for they were gone when I was through.
@summerfield Thanks so much, lady!! I just wish that the silhouetted couple had still been sweetly sitting side by side rather than this shenanigans;-).
@taffy Thanks so much, Taffy. The other shot I missed was bowl you over amazing. I still am wanting a camera installed in my eye.
@bristolrose They are doing the deed. I kept it darker to obscure it a bit. I feel like a perv to have taken a shot of this. I had no idea. Thanks, lady!!
@paulaw Oh my goodness, I had no idea. I was just glad that they were still there and was focused on getting set up and getting a shot. I chased them away, for by the time I was done, they were gone.
@kwind Thanks, Kim. It needed a little something to make it more special!
I'm not exactly sure what I am looking at. Is she on top of him? I want the clear version. What's with this Big Foot blurry image..LMAO!
I would have prefered that harvest moon. You score an "A" for your efforts as always Amanda.
@adamj I had my ISO set too high. I was fumbling as I said. I had to sharpen it quite a bit which added the graininess. How embarrassing. I chased them off I guess.
@adamj I soooo would have preferred the moon, too. It was flippin' amazing. I should have run home instead of leisurely walking the dog. The moment was ruined.
@amandal hey, it happens. Don't be so hard on yourself. Look, the pic is a hit! Sh*% happens when creating. Sometime we run into gold. other times...not so much :)
@adamj I try not to be. All in all, grainy and imperfectly taken or no, I was pleased with the image. Just wish that the couple had behaved more for me and not dirtied up my gazebo. They were sweeter side by side. And the stinkin' moon could have taken it's time going up, too, but...I like the gold times best:).
You are going to get quite a reputation Amanda, creepy creep some nights, hanging around street corners in mini skirts on others! Love the blue tones. Lovely shot.
@happysnap Oh the reputations I have around here. That is why we are moving;-). Thanks, Linda.
@bobfoto Sounds like a game of Clue...the security guard did it in the gazebo with Miss Scarlett.
@frida Really love your comments, Frida. Thanks so much!
@jodimuli I KNOW! Wowie. I was so not trying to get this shot, so you know. I didn't realized that was what was going on. They were so sweet and cute when they were just sitting there side by side. How things change in the light of the moon!
Sorry I've been absent for a few day. Been a sad Andy :( All okay, just have my moments to overthink things, sigh. Anyway, this is lovely and a fav. Am being driven crazy by ny OCD of things being straight. Is just me or is it on a slight angle?
@thirtysevenways Sorry to hear sad Andy. It is probably crooked. I was setting it up fast as I didn't want to miss the moment. I wasn't aware of how romantic the moment was, though, and felt like a creep after taking the photo. It was tough to set up in the dark. I was attempting to get the moon in there, too, but it was too high in the sky. Thanks for the fav. Hope that your blues subside.
@northy Thanks, friend. Can you make out what the silhouettes on the gazebo are doing. I was horrified that I was so obnoxious as to be shooting this. I didn't realize.
Oh my!! :-o
You really are a creepy creep. LOL ;-)
How dare they sully your adorable gazebo. Actually, if you hadn't pointed out what they were dong, I wouldn't have been able to figure it out. Even KNOWING what they were doing, I can't really figure out which body parts are where. LOL
VERY cool shot. It has an Oriental feel, especially with the crane ornament.
Too bad you missed the amber moon.
@pasadenarose I know! They were so cute sitting side by side in the sparkle of the moon. Wish I hadn't missed the original shot, but yeah this one was pretty cool, too. Even though I'm a creep!
