This sucker was in my kitchen sink last night, all dancing around and taunting me. And I didn't even shriek. I just quickly called for back up and grabbed the camera and started shooting.
Just had to mix it up as I have gotten kinda cutesy lately. I needed something gross and creepy for a change.
So between this freakish sized arachnid in my sink and the 4 deer we watched fighting out our front window, we were living National Geographic last night.
@vega Holy crap it was huge...and gave me the heeby jeebies. I shot this without a zoom lens, too, so I had to get close. I'm a bit of an arachnaphobe, too, so I perhaps I did earn it. Thank, Vega. Oooh, just remember the time a spider fell from the ceiling and landed on my unsuspecting arm in HS history class. I stood up and screamed and danced all over the place shaking my arm. I had to get that sucker off of me and fast!
Better your sink than mine! Your focus is fabulous! The sink even adds nice texture to the photo! Did you gently release him outdoors or squash him? :)
@simon0128 And I did. I had my borrowed 35mm on rather than my zoom lens, but it seemed pretty trapped in there and luckily didn't jump in my face. Eek!
@tryingforsighs I'm in OH, but yes, we have large spiders here apparently. We do live in the woods, so maybe are more prone to them. Thankfully it was the first I've seen so far in the house.
@jsw0109 Wait, push the fave button first right;-). Funny man. Did you read my story above about the spider falling from the ceiling onto my arm in high school? I screamed like a little girl and caused quite the scene. Where is your shot?! Dying to see it!!
This is really a great photo, Amanda. Not sure I would have reached for my camera, more like hubby to kill it. Look really close at the head and see if you see what I do. Looks like the lion from the Wizard of Oz. Eyes, nose, mouth and a full head of hair. Even ears above. Ignore the antenna things when you do this. I have a 24" screen so you will want to look at it with a bigger screen to see the small detail that I see.
Eeeek, I would have screamed out loud, look at the size of that! And it looks to me like it has a grumpy face, yikes! And that video, I couldnĀ“t watch it, thatĀ“s just so yackY. But I love your sense of humor and your description made me smile, I know excatly what you mean by needing something freeky for change, IĀ“m at the same phase now feeling that IĀ“ve done so many soft pics that I need something creepy to balance thinngs
Ha ha I'm not a big fan of spiders but as the only person in the house who doesn't suffer from arachnophobia I'm always the one who has to remove them. I might point out that the other two members of the household are male!
@louuncouth The size of my palm? Maybe a tad smaller? I am not a big palmed lady, but man, that sucker was huge. I saw one in Cali once I think. At a cabin in Tahoe.
Gross and creepy is right! ewwww..but such a great shot. Had one that looked like this last year. HUGE! I can't watch the video, but can only imagine.!
@kwind @kerristephens Thanks, sweet ladies. I appreciate you liking my not so sweet subject. Don't want to get a cutesy reputation;-).
@thresheg Thanks, Graham!!!
@gailmmeek Yikes, I need to get it out of my house!!
@pittcj17 Ugh, I know. Thanks, lady!
@pflaume Truly!
We had one carrying babies across the living room once - it was fascinating to watch.
@fauxtography365 I know. I was squealing watching it. Made my skin crawl!
