Waiting Behind my Mask of Shame by alophoto

Waiting Behind my Mask of Shame

I've been feeling run down and kinda crappy on and off for over a week now. No full blown sickness, just not well, normal, right. And then on top of this I got an eye infection on Friday. A painful one. A hideous looking one that made my eye puffy like a muppet and red and weepy.

I finally went into the doctor's on Monday to get it taken care of. As I waited, I felt like a contagious freak, all red eyed and gross. The employees commented on my eye as they passed me with things like "WOW, that is red!" and the like. It didn't make me feel better. And then the doctor really didn't know what it was..."Did you get bit by something?" And prescribed me some nearly $100 drops to 'try.' Luckily the drops are helping and the eye is slowly improving and not hurting as much anymore.

So with all of this, I have not really been in a good place to do selfies. I've been meaning to do this sleeveface one, though, and thought it was a good time now that I am such a butterface:). Hope to be regular and myself again soon!

Also, looking forward to trying out my new costume stuff that a 365 friend surprised me with this week. So fun!
aww poor you, glad the eyedrops are helping, get well soon, Love this sleeveface self .

great job feel better soon
June 11th, 2014
Sorry u r feeling punk! Creative as ever though! Take care Amanda!
June 11th, 2014
Get well soon. Glad to hear the drops are working. As usual, great photo. How do you align the sleeve so well?
June 11th, 2014
Gorgeous you. Hope you feel better soon.
June 11th, 2014
@bill_fe This was a pain in the arse. I did it on my own and looked to have 3 shoulders and then had the brilliant idea to have my hubby help and tell me direct me how to hold it. Even with his instructions, I had many fails. 20 shots. Most were off. They are HARD to get right. Thanks, Bill. A butterface after all...at least temporarily;-).
June 11th, 2014
red eyes or not , this still shows a confident person and a reaaly good photographer
June 11th, 2014
brilliant! hope you are feeling better - I have had a crappy week also - fortunately my eyes were ok - that would have really been the last straw - hang in there - this is well done especially considering how hard it was to do
June 11th, 2014
what a bummer of a week - hope you're feeling much better. Love this shot :)
June 11th, 2014
I had one of those miserable "I wear my sunglasses at night" infections back in March. The drops my eye doctor prescribed were only $4 (generic) and they worked. I hope you are feeling better. I love how you created this sleeveface selfie. Brilliant and a fav!
June 11th, 2014
Creative shot
June 11th, 2014
Great shot
June 11th, 2014
Sorry you are ill but love your sense of humor!
June 11th, 2014
Are you really small or is that cd really big?
June 11th, 2014
@snackmaster LP. I'm smallish.
June 11th, 2014
Ha! You look great for not feeling well :)! So clever and well done.
June 11th, 2014
Lovely - but kind of miss your face... you have much more enchanting smile.
June 11th, 2014
Very cool selfie! Hope you feel better very soon. Eye problems are so not fun!
June 11th, 2014
the rest of you still looks in good shape :)
June 11th, 2014
What's an LP?
June 11th, 2014
how old or young is this boy who's not heard of LP? that's quite amusing! ah, when you're my age, you get amused pretty much by anything. you did an awesome job here, kiddo! and i'm with alice @alicenellis your smile is much more engaging!
June 11th, 2014
@snackmaster Come on, man..,a record. Like from the 70's. What did LP stand for? Long playing? Who knows.

@summerfield Oh but the eye is too hideous. Thanks, friends!! @alicenellis
June 11th, 2014
@teiko Aw, thank you, kind lady!!!
June 11th, 2014
Boooo to random eye diseases, $100 eye drops (what are they made of? angel tears?!) and feeling run down. Great shot thought. Perfectly lined up! Fav.
June 11th, 2014
So horrible feeling run down - but even so you manage to come up with another cracking and fun photo. Brilliant - did you have an 'assistant' to tell you when the shoulder was lined up?
June 11th, 2014
@jocasta Yes and even with him it was hard. "Move it left, higher, now right, straighten it, straighter...ok, now shoot...you MOVED!" I kept shifting after pressing the remote and throwing it to the side. I couldn't have done this one without help. I tried and had 3 shoulders:).

@egad Total angel tears. Love that. Nice that they are working a bit. Thank you so much!!!
June 11th, 2014
Hope you're feeling better! I remember my mom had a blood vessel pop in her eye while we were at a wedding reception. As you can imagine, it didn't look nice at all but she made it through. ;) Excellent framing - I wouldn't have the patience for this and I think involving my husband in creating this shot would send us both to marriage counselling. Haha... ;)
June 11th, 2014
I knew it was you, Amanda. Fantastic forced perspective. Love it. FAV.
June 11th, 2014
A fantastic idea. Fav
June 11th, 2014
So cool, brilliant yet again :-)
June 11th, 2014
@kass We only did 10 shots together, so luckily no counselling needed. Shew. So couldn't have done it without the instruction, though. It would have been easier I think had he looked through the lens to see if I was lined up. Oh well. Live and learn.

@anazad511 @thresheg Thank you soooo much for the kind faves and well wishes:)!! @cimes1 @vega @pittcj17 @newbank
June 11th, 2014
Great capture,Amanda!! Hope the eye clears up quickly!!
June 11th, 2014
@amandal - sunglasses? shades? :-P

@kass - really? i had a completely different impression. he's so sweet!
June 11th, 2014
Amazing shot! Well done
June 11th, 2014
Love this,Amanda!Perfect alignment and very realistic looking extension to your torso! You may think of going blond?:)) Stunning composition and great processing! FAV!
Hope you'd feel better soon!I've been having the same painful eye infection every spring and always my allergy was to blame...
June 11th, 2014
@my_photofun I am surprised that blond seems to work for me. I got a wig earlier in the year to do Alice. I considered bleaching for that shot. Glad I didn't. It doesn't look bad, though. Thank you sooo much!
June 11th, 2014
great shot, this is such a good idea I am impressed every time that it lines up perfectly
June 11th, 2014
@denisefuller The last one I did, it looked like I had a broken neck. Got some help with the positioning this time around. Thank you!!!:)
June 11th, 2014
And still well enough to do a brilliant pic for 365! Well done. Love this.
June 11th, 2014
Brave soul and glad your eye is getting better. Super shot. How did you figure out just how to get the shot in the right spot in front of you? was there another person in the room?
June 11th, 2014
@sailingmusic Yes. wonderful hubby helped out this time. Mine that I attempted on my own gave me 3 shoulders. Thanks, lady!!
June 11th, 2014
Love this pic. Get well soon!
June 11th, 2014
Ha ha just brilliant Amanda, I love the set up. Glad the eye is improving!
June 11th, 2014
Fabulous picture - hope you are feeling better
June 11th, 2014
Keep up with the drops! Excellent selfie!
June 11th, 2014
Very well done!
June 11th, 2014
Nicely tied up with the shapes of the shoulders. Soft and gentle picture which is not what you probably feel behind that cover!
June 11th, 2014
Its amazing how well the sleeve matches up with you! Well done! I hope you are feeling better and your eye is less grotesque! :-)
June 12th, 2014
This is awesome as usual! I agree with Kali..the rest of you looks great! Sorry you feel like crap!Hopefully it is nothing, but if it goes on ..get a blood test for Lyme disease. We are all at risk....except our cityscape friends...and even they are since mice carry those little buggers.Hope you feel better !

I love to read what you write as you always keep my attention and bring so much to what you are doing in the moment. If I can say so, a very sexy shot. FAV

I don't know about your eye, but the rest of you looks pretty stunning!! ;-)))
Amanda, your creativity and courage constantly amaze me!! This is a great selfie, and the sleeveface challenges look like a lot of fun, but I have to dig in the garage to find my boxes of LP (yes, Long Play!), and it just has not been top priority lately! What a great idea!
June 13th, 2014
@eyesmile And I love you for saying that. Thanks so much, my friend!!!
June 13th, 2014
I hope your eyes are feeling better now, but this is really a very creative picture!

A Hot Fav :-) ...despite the infection and crap!! BTW - you actually managed to have hubby focus on giving you directions? :-P
June 16th, 2014
@friend2303 All better now thankfully!! And yes, he managed to concentrate and help for 10 shots. And then we moved on:). THANK YOU!!!
June 17th, 2014
