Title said like Arnold Schwarzenegger in a movie that I can't remember. One where he said "Fire Powah!!" and shot some big gun as only Arnold can. Love that he was my governator for awhile there. I mean how cool is it to have an action hero as your leader? I digress...
Day two of our vacation and we popped over to Niagra Falls to take in their intensity and splendor. I was thunderstruck by the incredible power of that water. Absolutely amazing and a sight to behold. Must go back to see it longer, get other povs (the Canada side looked pretty cool, but we don't all have passports). We also planned to take the boat out, but my daughter got sick that morning so just a quick peek was all we could do.
What a way to start a trip, though!! Water POWAH!!
FAV! Awesome catch of the Falls. I haven't been there since I was a child and no passport was required then to go to the Canadian side. I would go crazy taking photos of this place.......I wanna go back :-)
@cimes1 Crazily, I only got 30 shots. We really were there for a short stop and I was with my family and getting the disapproving glare. Come on, honey. Yes, back when I went to Canada in 94 a passport was not required. Thanks kindly for the fav!
So impressive! I've always wanted to see this, and perhaps some day I will. Your mention of the boat ride reminds me of "The Office" when Jim and Pam got married on one at Niagara Falls.
I saw this from the Canadian side, I think it would be just as impressive either side. I hope to get back there one day. Wonderful shot Amanda, you've really captured the power. fav.
So magnificent!! Very "powerful" shot!! What a fun vacation. I was there as a kid, but would so like to see it again.... since that was a couple of years ago (LOL)
Love, love, love this photo, Amanda. Wow. You captured a great shot. So amazing. Nice to see it through your camera/eyes. You should win a HUGE prize for this one or some $$$ for it somewhere. FAV
Niagara Falls is amazing, isn't it? Beautiful shot. Glad to see the ice is all gone. The trail near the falls was iced over when we were there in mid-May.
@northy I was there a week ago. Just got home from 3000K road trip around New England last night. We camped for a week. I got sick, too...worst thing to be feeling while camping. But I lost some weight...all that crap I'd been eating on vacation, so that's good:). We were 30 minutes away and just there overnight. Peeked in for an hour or so and went on our way. Must go back. Are you closish on the CA side?
@amandal oh no... sick while camping... yuck! i think the Canadian side of the falls is about an hour and a half drive from where i live in Toronto... pretty easy to do as a day trip
@northy Maybe we can meet there next time I go. We have friends to see and stay with in Buffalo. Yeah, it royally sucked. Felt like I would die. All I wanted to do was be in my bed, not in a damn tent in the heat and mosquitoes.
Brilliant, brilliant scene!! So sad to read you were sick while camping -- nothing's worse than that! But this shot, wow, fav, awesome...all those things! I have friends in Buffalo and just loved my visit with them -- we spent a morning and a night in the park. It was awesome.
@taffy I could have done it for hours...seeing all the great povs. Just kicking myself for not swapping out lenses so that I could have captured the rainbow and the falls like you did. Dadgumit!;-) That was so pretty to see, though. For this pov, i paid $1. I'll say it was worth it. thanks for the fav, my friend!!
Beautiful shot. Yes, the falls are about an hour and a half from Toronto. I used to go when I worked in Niagara on the Lake (also worth a trip) I've never been to the American side. To me the falls are beautiful but the city...very wax museum, heart shaped water beds...awesome in a cheesy kind of way. @northy
Great capture of the Water Powah!! Niagara is a cool place, even cooler when visited in the middle of the winter like we did! I remember the grass was frozen, icicles were hanging from the trees, and you definitely got wet in some of the areas. We were wearing these bright yellow slickers to keep from getting drenched. BTW, didn't anybody notice that trail at the bottom left with the tiny little blue figures? Such a vast place.....really makes you feel insignificant!
@thresheg Thank you so much, Graham!
Great perspective and composition!
