This is an example of turning an ordinary photo into an extraordinary (at least in my eyes:) one with processing. Maybe it's that I am a big fan of blue.
It was taken this week when I went out and chased the sunrise with Meg.
It turned out to be a pretty regular sunrise. Quite ordinary and not one of those bowl you over kinds. Once I argued with a photo friend that no sunrises are ordinary, but this one was. I get it. This was taken with subtle predawn light. Not sure if it had exposure issues, but was brighter and less colorful than I would have preferred. So I played. And boy did I like the result.
To me this has a Van Gogh, Starry Night vibe to it.
Simply blown away by your response to Clara touching the robin yesterday. Thank you...you've touched me with your words. Happy Friday!
Hope your weekend is gorgeous and full of laughter.
@megmills Picmonkey, wood or board texture and I inverted it or did some fiddling and it turned this color. Try it out and let me know if you can't figure it out and I can walk you though it better. So I changed it from multiply and went down to the bottom option, I think. Lot's o' play. Thank you!
Very Van Gough-like -- I also have had a great time at editing a mundane , ordinary photo to resemble a painting -- but went through various processes before arriving on an image I liked !
I'm with you all the way for loving this so much! The original had the bones to build on and this is a stunner! Ever a photographer, Often an Artist...that's what I strive for and you and your circle do it to the nth every time!
I also thought "Starry Nights" even before I read your post. I like to play around with my photos, too. I even teach photo editing because I want others to know the possibilities. Love this photo.
I love how well the wood grain works in the sky! And the color is fabulous. Hmm... maybe this is my favorite after all. It's my favorite in a different way!
I was going to say Van Gogh, Starry Night, even before reading your caption. And as I looove that painting and looove your version of it, it's an instant fav. Amazing edit!
Fav for me - you couldn't offer a purer or more articulate interpretation of Van Gogh's Starry Nights works if you had actually "channeled" the artist himself
Missed this when you first posted it. Yes, I can see "Starry Night" -- one of my favorites, so this is going straight into my favorites. Brilliant transformation through processing.
Tree textures on a tree... cosmic! Yep, a Van Gogh feel, for certain. Singing the "awesome" song. :) I'm thinking this is a layer-y kind of an addition, of another shot? So fun.
@summerfield I loved this one. That blue is my favorite color and I loved that it came out Van Goughish. Thanks! I need to, but then I'd have to frame it or I dono, I hope to do a canvas of this and some others someday. I keep saying someday...
@amandal - get this one on a 16 x 20 wrap around canvas. although i'm not really crazy about the wrap-arounds. i have mine done with a black silk ribbon on the sides, and gallery frame. this would look gorgeous! find a website that offer them cheap or with coupons. you just have to have one done and presto, before you know it, you have an avalanche of frames you don't know what to do with. or holding an exhibit. :-P
@katerinatina @nanderson Thanks, pretty ladies!!!
