The Van Gogh That I was Tempted to Take

This is the most expensive painting at our art museum as per the guard that was talking to me as I snapped the photo. I believe he said that it was worth 34 million dollars (or whatever one was willing to pay for it he said). Boy could I get loads of new lenses and camera bodies with that!!:)

Hey, Look over there, I wanted to say as I bolted off with the valuable Van Gogh.

I would so never do that or really be tempted. I just read a book in which the main character did take a priceless painting and I saw how it absolutely wrecked his life.

I did love the vibrant greens in this verdant forest and loved seeing a work of one of the masters right there before me so close I could see the paint strokes!

And wowie, did you all surprise me with your amazing response to my abstract, funkified, crazily edited art museum shot of Meg. Thank you for that. I liked it a lot, but it was out there and didn't know what to expect from others. Bowled me over with your kind comments and faves, my friends. Thank you!

I'm getting ready to be "leaving on a jet plane." Hope to be back tomorrow night after a whirlwind work trip. Be well and see you soon!!!
oh yes - can understand why - enjoy your trip

Hi Amanda, you have photographed this so beautifully. I am jealous, we are not allowed to take photos in English galleries..........

I wish I could walk in that wood. Great on, truly! And thank you so much for mentioning me in the week favorits, it made my day. That snap was taken on one of these days when I was SO busy and SO frantic tht I just took the camera out for one minute snapped exactly THAT.

January 25th, 2015
@aecasey Yep, that's the one. I don't know that I liked it. No redemption really.

There's quite a feeling standing close to the work of a master. You're funny tho, contemplating the camera gear you could buy with the heist earnings. Good choice of purchases! Safe travels on your jet plane. (You could buy one of those too.)

Fabulous light and shot.

@lyndemc Oh think of all the places I could go and photograph with my own jet:)!!!!
January 25th, 2015
I love Van Gogh and I sure would like to find a scene like to capture on photo. I'm surprised they let you photograph it. Seems all the museums around here + art festivals have signs saying "no photography allowed." This one's a keeper to have in your collection......I guess I must have missed it before but where do you work? Have a great trip!
January 25th, 2015
Oh, how fantastic that your new job is taking you on trips! Hope it's enjoyable, I always loved my work trips away.
January 25th, 2015
Safe travel and patiently endure the security checks along the way. Love the image of the master's art. Like @cimes1 I'm amazed they let you even take a camera into the place.

I forgot to say, lovely shot of the Van Gogh, that would be a great shot to try to copy in a photo.

It's gorgeous! Let me just get that $34 million I keep under the bed to buy it!
January 25th, 2015
I love the Van Gogh in our Cinci Art Museum--it's not one of the more "famous" ones but it's a cool one with all the trees and flowers! I'm so glad you were able to get a photo of it!

@lesip We are so screwed. Ended up flying into the wrong airport and we need to catch our flight across town. Will very well have a stressful travel day and may not make it back.
January 26th, 2015
Ha ha, nice capture, and you've obviously just read the Goldfinch! I did too. I liked it, and passed it to my husband who hated it and found it really boring.

I love your humor! Great piece by him. It amazes me how much these paintings are worth! Have a safe trip. I hope you are not going anywhere near that blizzard.

Good luck I'm sure you'll make the best of it. Sounds like you didn't travel alone so that's a plus. Just Breath and click your heels you will make it home..... was it training ?
