Chip and his Cheezit by alophoto

Chip and his Cheezit

Say Hello to my little friend. This is my back porch neighbor. I often see him skittering around in the backyard out the window as I sit at the computer.

And he is fast, never seems to sit still...til yesterday when he sat nibbling on an orange crackery looking thing, let us approach the window, let me stand there taking shots...and on and on he nibbled.

It was like a gift for Mother's Day.

Love chipmunks ever since I played one in my first play in second grade. My lines were "Save my place!" It's cool to live in an area that has so many of them.
He is so adorable - very well captured!

I love chipmunks too; they're so stinkin' cute! Your use of the work "skittering" was perfect for describing how these little characters move about. Darling picture of this one.

Colors work so well -- almost like selective color that brings me into his hands and the piece of orange. Very cool capture, great DoF.

Why do we love chipmunks and not mice? The tail, the colouring? They might run up your leg, like a mouse can!
May 11th, 2015
@maggiemae It's the chubby cheeks when they eat and the cute stripe down the back. Plus they are disney characters. I'm into mice, too and would happily photo one if it were in my yard.

Awwww what a cutie... At first I was thinking that sure doesn't look like a cheezit. LOL. I watch them pop up all over the backyard which is full of all their tunnels.

Such a cute photo, Amanda. You are lucky to have so much nature in your backyard. FAV
May 12th, 2015
@lesip I did not know they tunnel.
May 12th, 2015
is there a difference between a chipmunk and a squirrel? (never seen neither)
May 12th, 2015
Pam
I love how he is looking at you! Adorable!

@bobfoto Chipmunks are smaller and cuter to me. They are brown with a black and white strip down back and on face. Squirrels are larger with a long fluffy tail, and live in trees. Chipmunks are primarily on the ground. We call the squirrels in our yard "naughty monkies" because of the one that figured out how to get into our bird feeder and gorge self on seed. We think a hawk got him.
