Lucas, age 11, did an amazingly sweet and generous thing this year for his sisters. He bought them their number one top gift, the one that Mike and I probably wouldn't have gotten them. They both wanted those big huge stuffed animals that take up half your room. They have tons of animals already and one that size is very impractical and rather large for girls who already struggle to keep their rooms clean.
But oh did they want them, and they told us each time we went to the store (Kroger) where they were. We go to Kroger often!
Lucas saved half of the money himself and we helped him with the other half and he bought them their most wanted gifts.
He hid the animals away in his closet all month and had to listen to the girls prattle on and on about getting those ridiculously large things.
And on Christmas morning, he hid them in a room and brought the girls in. This was their reaction after they had hugged their gigantic animals for a bit.
Best brother ever. So proud of his beautiful, generous heart when he lets it shine!
On Christmas Eve, we started a new tradition of reading the story of Jesus' birth in the Bible, the actual Christmas story. I read the part that I so well remember Linus' sweet voice sharing in Charlie Brown Christmas:
Luke 1:8-14
And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
9 And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.
10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
This is the sweetest Charlie Brown ever...love that precious Linus!
