I think that something happened to the eggs as the mom was just sitting on the nest the other day.
Hope that I am wrong.
Either way, the empty nest still makes me sad.
Today at church the pastor was talking about sending his oldest daughter off to college today for the first time. I cried thinking of the day...remembering being the kid who was left at school and imagining leaving my kids down the road.
I wonder if a neighborhood cat could have raided the nest? Maybe the mother will come back next year and try again. My granddaughter leaves for college next week and I’m sure there will be tears aplenty when her family leaves her at the dorm.
A very symbolic and emotive shot. Philosophically, If children never left it might mean they are not capable young adults and realistically no good parent wishes that for their children as painful as the separation is.
