Actually, there was good reason for this tonight. Firstly, it's my birthday weekend. Yep, correct, I'm having a whole birthday weekend. Call me greedy, but honestly, it's just a perfect excuse to eat fab food and drink all the wines. My birthday isn't actually until Tuesday :P
So I left work at 3pm yesterday, and finally got sat down around 9pm. The twist of the wine cap (because you never get corks anymore :P) signaled time to si'down.. feet up, episode of Bones.
I can think of no better way to start a birthday weekend than with Mr Boreanaz and his gun show. Unlucky enough to not know who that is? Google him, and thank me later.
I don't know about anyone else, but I'm really struggling with home/life/work balances at the moment. Something is going to have to give, and I've got the most horrid feeling it's going to be sleep.
Think about it. You're meant to get 8 hours a night right? I get up at 5:30am and work hard, glaring at a PC every day. I start flagging by 9:30 most nights. I'm out of the house between work and commuting around 12 hours per day.
So work and sleep alone are stealing 20 of my 24 hours. Add into the mix showing, eating, cooking, cleaning (aright, I'm lying about that one) husband time and photography and I think I can safely say those two hands on the wall who rule my life through a never-ending ticking circle, are beating me. I've given up trying to watch TV. I'm 5 weeks behind on Dexter.
Unfortunately I think my shots have suffered a bit of late but I'm trying to get back on track, and my little book of ideas is stuffed full of when-I-have-time shots..
This weekend is a little different though. As aforementioned before my giant moan, IT MY BIRTHDAY WEEKEND.
BOOM!
I have 4 days off. Okay, 3 and a bit because I'm in my husbands shop until 2pm this afternoon. And I'm being taken away. Where? NO IDEA!!
Steven has booked us away somewhere. He's been giving me clues all week.
- It's near a zoo
- It's 25 miles from land
- We'll be keeping a staple diet in the Carriage Coach House
- It's the oldest hotel we've ever stopped in.
We're going this weekend, and of course, shall be visiting said zoo, so I'm excited for a bit of down time. I'm mostly excited about the wining and dining though!
Have a fantastic time!!! And it's definitely worth celebrating for the whole weekend - sounds like hubby has gone all out, so enjoy, relax and bring back great photo's to share with us. ;-)
I understand totally about the 12 hour days! Have a fantastic birthday weekend - make the absolute mostest of your 4 days off. PS: the only problem I have with your photo is that I can't read the labels? Maybe I have already had too many wines with my birthday friend tonight! Enjoy your weekend.
Happy birthday weekend!! I feel ur lack of time, just not enough hours. 11.30 hours to/from work, kids, more work and not much sleep... Yawn. 'fraid 365 has to give:-( slainte!!
No well, about a week behind in my project and while I love to view and comment I am slowing failing...... Enjoy that wine, raising mine to you from sydney right now:-)
A big YEAH for birthday weekends! And if mine falls midweek well then its a birthday week, unless the too busy life has taken over and then its just another day! So get the lack of time but good to hear that you have unscheduled free time this weekend to enjoy photography and time with your husband. Enjoy!
oh wow...
