1st time

Excited to have one of those “never seen this bird before” moments...a Northern Flicker landed on the thistle (nyjer) feeder. Knew they were in Michigan but never spotted one. They are not prone to using feeders so perhaps the ice storm sent him searching for food.
nice catch! the intricacy in the feather pattern is quite neat!

He's beautiful! They don't usually go to feeders, so he must be hungry. They poke their beaks into the ground, looking for grubs
