Unimaginative Architecture

photo 136
The 551 ft. 47 storey Beetham Tower completed in 2006, is the tallest eyesore in Manchester.
The Hilton Hotel is in the lower bit with apartments from level 25.
From the top you can see North West England including the Cheshire Plain, the Pennines, the Peak District and Snowdonia.
The tower is known for an intermittent hum in windy weather – it also causes muttering from the population of Greater Manchester.

Love how the sky is reflected in the glass. Blue on blue.

Nice capture. Looks like the #1 from that POV.

Towering, majestic, great!

Agreed - unimaginative; just a challenge to be the tallest without any taste! But it's useful as a marker when seen from all those distant places you mention.

Nice pic though!

David have just caught up on your past photos. I love the history and info that you give. I can't imagine anyone will be commenting on this building for its beauty in the future.

@jennywren Glad you like the "history lessons" as someone called them. I enjoy finding out the extra information as much as taking the photo!

Been browsing through your album David, and there's plenty to admire, inform and amuse. The caption to this picture being a good example of the latter. Seen from this perspective I don't think I'd call it an eyesore, though, but then again I don't have to live with it. The colour scheme and composition have clearly worked wonders.
