The 1909 Avroplane with a wingspan of 20ft was built by A V Roe in Putney.
It had triplane wings and tailplane and a forward propeller powered by a 6hp JAP engine.
It was the first British plane to fly and the inset photo - which I did NOT take - shows it doing so at Walthamstow Marshes.
