Went to the Southend Air Show this afternoon. Along with thousands and thousands of people! Took plenty of snaps, including this cross over between two bi-planes, each with wing walkers - look closely and you can just see someone on the top of the plane in the background.
It was hard enough capturing these slower moving planes, as for the jets!, Well, forget it... Looking through the lense waiting for the exact moment is much harder than I thought...
If you want to see some more from the day, including plenty of the wing-walkers, a display team, some jets (just) and the WWII fly-by (spitfire, hurricane and lancaster), click here http://andycphotos.shutterfly.com/184
wow that is incredible - that vibrant colour against the sky is fabulous, and the fact that they look as if about to collide is really striking - amazing that there are wing-walkers on there too
I went to your link and had a look at your "other" pictures from this event. My, oh my, you got lots of WONDERFUL shots. I enjoyed looking at all of them.
Thanks for sharing this air show with the rest of us.
Of course I love this picture and all the air show you shared! Looks like a wonderful way to celebrate your *birthday*! You were so quiet about it, but I've fixed that! http://365project.org/Weezilou/365/2010-06-01
Yes I agree, you are a quiet one. I knew I shared a birthday with ken but not anyone else on 365. Happy birthday Andy. Bloody miserable day today with my plans to go out for a lovely walk but hope you have lots of fun things lined up to celebrate. Well done for capturing this near collision and thank god it didnt happen!
Happy birthday Andy! This is a great capture! I love airshows, my partner being ex RAF....persuaded me years ago to go to Duxford flying legends, and I was hooked. Glad you had better weather than here in Ipswich!
