Went with my girlfriend to the Indian Fim Festival this evening. The film started at 7pm, we got to the cinema 10 minutes before the film was due to start and the room was empty!
Ok, so it's the first year of the festival, attempting to showcase the less familiar (non song and dance) movies and we didn't expect a big crowd, but to see no one was a little worrying...
Anyhow, just after I took this people started coming in - probably 20 in total.... Not great but I suppose you have to give eveything a chance.
Watched City of Gold - a movie about the lives of a family suffering in Bombay when the main employer closes - wasn't too bad.
My girlfriend is really into art house Indian movies and on the board of one association - a little networking with the organisers of this event afterwards and I wouldn't be surprised if she finds herself involved with another project.
Went to Nando's before film for a bit of spicy chicken...yum yum
Did you ask before you took this photo?! Heard about City of Gold, but when I hear 'City of Gold' I think 'City of God', which is one of my fave films.
I suppose your missus would be in to Satyajit Ray then?
There was no one to ask!!! Haha, I cactually said "2 for City of God please" when I bought the tickets...Yep, being from Calcutta, I don't think she has an option...lol...
Fantastic shot! We went to our friend's Indian wedding a few years ago and it was the same thing all weekend--we would show up on time, with a couple other white people, and all the Indians would come an hour or two later. They said we would figure out "Indian time' eventually.
thanks guys, agree with the water feel and actually wonder if this might of made a more interesting photo without anyone in the frame...... sorry honey...:-)...
