Day 8, the last day... Why do holidays go so quickly!
As is typical, the weather was looking good on the last day so we decided to take the kids up Hardknott Pass to see the views in clear weather and scare the life out of them on the hairpin bends. Proper Top Gear roads and great for driving real fast (safely of course :-)....)
Lots of great views but I really like the scale in this of Sangeeta against the backdrop of the hills.
Then it was back to Lake Windermere where we hired a motor boat so the kids could take turns wizzing about the lake for a hour before another cream tea (the 4th of the week) to fuel us for the 6 hour drive home.
So there was my holiday. Some good days and a couple not so good. But the worst part, no proposal. I never found the opportunity to pop the question! Damn disappointed!!!!
Took over 600 snaps - have uploaded about 150 onto Shutterfly, but that took about 3 hours (yep!!) so gave up uploading more. But if you want to see them, click here http://andycphotos.shutterfly.com/348
I see I'm about to view your vacation backward! Welcome home, and from here I'll jump back to the start of your holiday to read all about it. Sorry it had it's disappointments, but you'll make up for that one of these days. I could share a story about an engagement that didn't take place as planned either, but my daughter would shoot me for telling about it, and, in the end, both the engagement and the happily-ever-after marriage came to pass... (I know what a lot of work it is to post the Shutterfly pictures...I'm many days behind...so I'll look forward to seeing what you've left there!)
Great holiday snaps - even if the low cloud/mist spoiled the views - love the pic of the tree silhouetted up against that dry stone wall - and glad you got into the hills despite the lack of suitable footwear - the lakes are a wonderful place!
