I can’t work out if I like this photo or not. It’s roughly what I had in mind when I spotted this window cleaning cradle halfway up the 500foot+ tower at Canary Wharf this lunchtime, but it hasn’t come out exactly how I hoped.
There didn't appear to be anyone in the cradle... Guess they were at lunch!!
Snapping this though did get me thinking about trying to take some architecture photos… I feel drawn to the idea of taking some B&W images of the 1950 - 1970s architecture and reckon their brutal designs could make for some interesting, and hopefully half decent photos. These plenty of choose here in London so I might give it a go over the next few days.
I took this photo from a slight angle, on hindsight, I wish I took a bit more time to frame the photo better.
Mum’s birthday today… And my sister-in-law’s, and my girlfriend’s brother, and my mate's..!! Blimey, what makes 18 August so special?!?!? Anyhow, Happy Birthday all….
Am uploading once again during work time… tut tut…
I really like this Andy, great for the theme. Wonder where the window cleaners went.......or maybe they're just lying down! Wonder what happens if they call for take away delivery? Happy birthday to everyone! Look forward to your architectral shots.
I do like the picture - especially those three odd lights at the top.
About 18 August ... the real question is what was so special about 9 months before 18 August!
This is a terrific shot and perfect for repetitions. And yes, I have many, many August birthdays to celebrate, too...and as Eleanor has mentioned...it's the cozy, feel-good December holidays that have produced all those August babies. :-)
Hey Andy, you won't regret it when you do get one though, although if I just had the kit lens and a telephoto like you do I'd probably get myself a cheap prime first, like the 50mm. I think the Nikon one is like £100 and so worth it!
Love the picture. But have to tell you I was very amused at your languaage. I am not for sure where you come from using words llike,,,mate,,,tut,,tut,,and,,,blimey and your mum. lol. I guess I like it because I am use to a slight southern drawl.
Great picture for reputition.
Thanks guys - haha.. seems lots of people were busy back in Nov/Dec....
As for this pic, I think it would be beter if I was looking straight at the building and not standing at an angle, but agree, reckon the cleaners were haveing a well deserved lay down resting after cleaning all those windows.
Because I uploaded this during the afternoon, I missed out on a truly fantastic sunset this evening... hey ho!
And Vik - When I'm next free think I'll go to a decent camera shop and check out prime lens.. cheers...
Nice!, I like the window cleaners. Thanks for the comments on my architecture stuff. I have a lot of architecture on Flickr if you want to check it out: http://www.flickr.com/photos/brandondoran/
I've really been liking some of the things you've done lately! I've been keeping up with everyone, just very little time to comment and no time at all to post.
Thanks for the inquiry--I've been extremely busy, so I'm going to end up clogging up the dashboard again this weekend. Camera in hand, just no time to process. Oh, to go a week without some sort of hassle rearing its head... :)

Funny, the 18th of August is 3 different birthdays in my family, too! Hmm...
Great picture for reputition.
