I have no idea what this is. Apart from the fact it's clearly a big red shinny pole. It doesn't seem to serve any purpose and there seems to be no rhyme or reason for its being!!
I noticed this pole near to Canary Wharf river boat station this evening, took half dozen snaps, had a look around for a plaque but didn't see anything so thought, that's ok, the web will tell me what it is.
Have had a look on the old interweb and all I can find is info on pole dancing clubs at Canary Wharf..!!!!! Any one know what this is all about???
Good day at the office today. Press release written and sent off with a bunch of photos from yesterday's event to the local rags and a few professional journals.
Had an immediate response from one local paper wanting further info on a couple of images so at least I know we'll have some coverage and is always nice seeing my photos in the paper.
Have actually been fairly successful getting coverage over the last few years, and have had loads of my photos used. In fact, I think we've been had about 200 stories included in various publications.
I went on a course a while back about getting press coverage and there's a simple rule to follow.... 1) photos of kids or old people (but no painted faces) and 2) Editors of local rags can be lazy so write one sentance paragraphs explaning a story which they don't have to re-write, there's always a good chance they will run your story.
The editing on my pictures take about a minute to do. There are many steps to take but it does not take long to do them. Like you last statement about editors, those are words to live by.
Finally found some info, it's called Wind Wand by someone called Ron Arad http://www.canarywharf.com/lifestyle/arts/artmap/popup.asp?id=40
