Being stuck in court all day has meant I've struggled on the photo front today. I'm not allowed to carry a camera into the building, which is just as well as the court is in Basildon and it is one of the most depressing town centres I've ever been to.
It's a new town, planned and built in the 1950s to house London's overspill population after WWII. The shopping centre is BLAND and GRAY. Shops like M&S and Laura Ashley sit uncomfortably amongst the large number of 99p stores, fast food outlets and pawnbrokers along the main mall area.
It's all squares and straight lines, everywhere is concrete and it's full of chavs!
As for today's court action... well, the prosecution finished their case, the defence offered none then we were sent home at 3pm to return for summing up and verdict tomorrow.
Photo by the way is some balls on chains on some Afgan thing I picked up once whilst on holiday, hand held 1 second exposure and shaken a tadge for a little movement. A bit dull and boring.... like Basildon really......
Ah, Basildon was the latest thing back in the 1960s when I was studying town planning.... the way to go it seemed.... and now.... like so many of those projects.... concrete without a soul or a heart...
I like how you gave the camera a little shake to show some movement, clever. But I really love you last comment and I keep thinking that when you look back on these photos in the future this one will surely remind you of how you were feeling today. Which is great don't you think!?
Not boring atoll! :o)
I like your run-down on Basildon, chavs and 99p stores... You've sold it too me haha :o)
Love the ball and chain shot
Great photo!
The photo turned out great!
