Cheeky Monkey by andycoleborn

Cheeky Monkey

Went to Woborn Safari Park today - it's the type of park where in the main, animals have the run of large reserves and you drive through the park - ala a proper safari...

And having actually been on safari, I can confirm most animals stay as far as possible away from the vehicles as they can... Apart from the monkeys who seem they can't wait to jump on the cars and pose for photos.

This was taken through my front windscreen - has come out quite good so am quite happy with the detail.

I set the shutter speed quite fast so I could capture good detail, especially as I was sat in my car, so was quite pleased with alot of the photos - especially of the rhinos, giraffes and peacocks who were happy to be quite close to the road through the reserve - the lions, tigers, wolves, bears and elephants were just too far away for my 200mm lens to get any good close ups.

Despite the problems getting good photos, I much prefer places like this where the aminals have large areas to wander about in - as opposed to tradition zoos which can seem to make them go stir-crazy..
great capture on your ideal photographic field trip

Ah, poor little mite.He seems a bit fed up. Great detail though. Plus, well done on having such a clean car windscreen,I doubt I'd be getting any shots through mine! :)

@artistmichelle LOL... the windscreen looked flithy so was a bit surprised this came out so clear... even dirtier now as it has monkey footprints all over it... :-)

@andycoleborn Ah, monkey footprints on your windscreen is rather lovely thing to have. It would cheer up the drive to work in the morning :) !

You're right, the detail is excellent for a 'through the windscreen' shot.

@redfl83 If you are within an hour or so, I say yeah, go - much more and probably not... althought the animals look very healthy and well cared for... Bring something to eat tho as the food is SOOOO expensive..

You've captured him beautifully - love the furry detail and I think he's a bit forlorn because of the English wintry weather myself - he's dreaming of sunnier climes (aren't we all?).
