New Year's Eve Rush

For the first time, I went up the West End and joined 250,000 others to watch the fireworks and see in the New Year...

We parked up in Wapping about 9pm and had a slow walk along the river and took our place on the Embankment with an hour and a half to go... It was already packed when we got there, 90 minutes later, it was jammed!!

Took this pic resting the camera on a fence trying to capture the rush of people as they made their way towards the display.

The firework display was ok, although seeing if from in front of the eye on TV later, it looked much better... To be honest - and I'm probably being an old fart, I'd rather not have bothered going as it was a bit boring lol....

After the 10 minute display, we walked back along the river and past many a drunken bum... Eventually got home about 2pm.

Love the movement in this shot. I think I am becoming an old fart also, it's a lot of work for the 10 minutes or so of actual firework display. Still, it's a tradition at my house to go and see our city display.
