Got back to work today after the long Christmas break only to find I was booked on a tour of the olympic site this afternoon.. So after spending a few hours checking emails and doing a few bits, it was off the Stratford.
I'd been on the tour about 18 months ago, so was interested in seeing what progress had been made. I'd driven past the olympic stadium and the other venues loads of times, but would be good to see them up close.
I haven't uploaded any of the olympic photos as I didn't take anything decent. The tour is on one of those bendy-buses usually seen at airports and the windows weren't very clean.
The various stadiums are almost complete, along with the numerous other buildings, including the massive media centre (big enough to fit in 3 jumbo jets apparently) and the 2,500 apartment athlete's village. Europe's largest shopping centre will soon open and the landscaping works are ahead of schedule, with a new park and various water ways and canals... All looks very impressive actually...
The tour finished about 4pm so I decided to head up to the West End and see if I could find a suit there....... Tried all the usual spots, Selfridges, John Lewis etc... even had a wonder down Bond Street and Savile Row, but couldn't find anything..
Ended up at Picadilly Circus where I took this - squatted down holding the camera almost on the floor as I wanted to catch the reflections on the wet pavement and waited until the coke advert came up..
Thanks guys @simonarmstrong cheers mate... cropped a bit but not too much.. @eyebrows just a bit lucky, although I know I've come on a fair bit taking pics cos a year ago I'd never have thought of taking a shot like this...
This is amazing!! Certainly would have won the silhouette competition last week. I love the movement in the photo, the colors and the reflection. Awesome!
Oh my Andy! Your photos are becoming the bench mark on here! This is so professional. I'd love to tour the Olympic site, we see it regualry from the train when we travel into London from Newbury Park. Glad to know we have good progress.
Came out great. Can you believe that i was Actually at Picadilly circus at the same time?! Would have been weird if we had run into each other. We spent some time in the record shop and then wandered over to soho for fun and a coffee.
@andifree Thanks... I'd just walked down through Soho so was walking in opposirwe direction to you.. How sppoky is that tho... Would have been fantastic to have coincidentally snapped you walking past...
Is it cropped exactly 50 / 50? If so, even better!
