Today I started a month's part-time work knocking on doors chasing up people who haven't completed their census forms. I'd forgotten how much I hate doing this type of thing and already feel like I wished I hadn't bothered taking on the job.
The only thing keeping me going is the cheque at the end of the job which will go towards the wedding and should pay for a least one of Sangeeta's relatives to come over from India.
I took a break when I past this Jewish cemetery near to Rainham and pulled over for a wander about. It is completely pack with row after row of tightly squeezed in gravestones... Reading the names as I passed reminded me of the scene in Schindler's List when Ben Kinglsey and Liam Neeson were typing up the names of the workers to be saved...
Today's title comes from something my driving instructor mentioned many years ago when we drove past a cemetery and said "This is the dead centre of town"
Got home about 4:30... and promptly fell asleep on the sofa!! Now settled down watching the Masters looking forward to a new Zombie/Horror series tonight called The Walking Dead...
I filled my Census form in so there is no need to chap on my door :o)
I remember when I was about 8 years old, we were in the car and Dad drove past a cemetery, I said "Ohh thats where the dead people live" my brother began to laugh, I had no idea why he was laughing but now every time I drive past a cemetery I remember that day :o)
You are busy taking on another job. Yet, I can understand the need for the extra income. When I first saw this picture, I also thought of Schindler's List. Great shot. And good luck with this job.
cool shot and spot on title. The walking dead is hugely popular here in the states though I must admit I haven't seen it. BTW a month will fly by and the rewards will be worth it!!
thank you guys... @andifree the first show seemed quite good - a little like 28 days later/The Stand but has me hooked and will tune in next week.. @phil_howcroft cheers amte... I did try that as thought that would be better, but somehow didn't really like it.. Maybe if I'd actually got a bit higher and took that shot, but know what you mean..
Good luck with the part time job, I know what it is like here to knock on the doors to get the information. The end result will be nice though! "Dead Center of Town" quite funny!
I did that job twice and after being chased by farm dogs and ignored by some very shady characters I decided to never do it again. It was better than delivering yellow pages though! Good shot.
