Playing with Light by andycoleborn

Playing with Light

Bought a portrait magazine today and after flicking through, decided to try some shots standing near the window to replicate one of the examples in the mag..

Found it almost impossible to get anywhere near what they did, especially difficult as 1) it was a cloudy day and the light was crap and 2) I don't have photoshop or lightroom to play with all their bells and whistles to get the desired result...

So this was the best I could do using the curves function on picmonkey... Tried b&w but think colour works better....
Andy - you need to get Lightroom 3 - it is going for very little now that LR 4 is out. Nice posing but yes the light is blown on the face and shoulder. Still I like it.

I'm not sure what you were aiming for, but I think this is lovely. (How could she be anything but!) I like the difference between light and shadow and the pose / composition is very thoughtful

@filsie65 thanks phil... @cortens haha... I'm tight ;-)... if I have to pay for something I tend to think twice... Tho if I did have LR, I reckon I'd be editing all flippin night haha

Well, I think it turned out fantastic. Give a kudos to curves and picmonkey because you've got yourself something with a unique look to it.
