Three weeks since Pompey's last home game so jumped in the car and headed to Portsmouth for today's game... Got about an hour into the journey when I heard on the radio we were playng away - in Liverpool.!!!
Bugger..!!! Still.. It had been 3 weeks since seeing Mum so I carried on for another hour and spent the day with her - stopping off for a cream tea before heading down to the coast to watch the setting sun then re-stocking her freezer with meals for the next couple of weeks...
This looks so much prettier than Liverpool! Sounds like a fortuitous mistake even though it might have been a good game to watch if you don't mind draws...
@bobfoto Hi Jason... your geography is ok, just a little technicality... it would be called the channel if the Isle of Wight weren't in the way... it's called the Solent where it runs between the isle and the mainland - after that it's the English channel all the way to France :)
What a stunningly beautiful photo...certainly your reward for being a good son! Dropping in for a few minutes and saw your note on Richard's photo...thanks! Maybe I'll have something to add over the Christmas holidays...I've become a "fair-weather photographer"...
@filsie65 - How far off the coast is the Isle of Wight... I know there's a music festival there, and isn't there a motorbike race or is that Isle of Man... wherabouts is that one?
@bobfoto Hi again - the Isle of Wight is apparently 2-5 miles away from the mainland. The Isle of Man is way up north, sort of between Wales, Scotland and northern Ireland in the Irish Sea. The TT races are on the Isle of Man and yes there are music festivals on the Isle of Wight but haven't been to any of them! Just call me Wikiphil :)
@bobfoto Yes, definitely, Channel islands (Guernsey, Jersey, Alderney, Sark etc) near France, lots of little ones nearer to the coast of England, and the Isles of Scilly which I don't think are strictly in the channel but aren't far off... all very lovely and well worth a visit. Let me know if you call by....! :)
