The Blind Beggar

Odds and Sods

Lots I like about this snap... The pub, the saucy underwear stall, the muslim woman and kids walking past, and pigeon just out for a stroll...

The Blind Beggar in Whitechapel is infamous as the boozer where gangster Ronnie Kray shot and killed George Cornell in 1966..

It's a nice shot, and the treatment flatters it.

I love, love, love street pics - must take some myself! Just think how important these wondeful pictures could be in the future.

It's amazing this place is still functioning! I'd be afraid to go in, might never come out!! Everything you've captured in this photo kind of sums up London....its history, ethnicity, kids, market stalls, brilliant. I presume Watney Combe Reid is what's become of Watneys these days.

I love this part of London, I've even had a pint or two in the Beggar, where even the cat looked hard...lol

I like the fact that you've used the word 'saucy'. Oooh Matron!
All the elements in this really work. Great shot.

Great shot - really captures the feel of the place - when I lived in London years ago, friends of mine lived in a flat in Cazenove Rd in Stoke Newington which they said was where Jack The Hat McVitie was killed by the Krays - I was never sure it was quite true but it was a great story!

The girls holding hands really draws me in especially with that hot pink bag. Nice one!

So much going on in this shot. I wonder what the woman walking by thinks of the underwear being sold out in the open. Isn't diversity great?
