I went wandering this morning with an open mind as to the photographic opportunities and I came across this rocky beach and outcrop.

This is a great shot! Interesting foreground, fantastic clouds and excellent dof on this one. The b&w just makes it perfect. Instant fav.

@ericaw @soboy5 Thankyou for your fantastic comments. The colour version was just as appealing and it was a tough choice as to which to post.

@sparkle Once again thankyou for your encouragement. This is a good coastline but the North Coast where you find the Giants Causeway is photography heaven!!!
posted May 14th, 2012
@andysg I've only ever been to the Giant's Causeway once...and only had a disposable camera with me (I was on a business trip and we took a very impromptu detour!!) would love to go back with better kit!

@sparkle The new visitors centre opens this summer and if you make the trip at anytime please let me know as I love that entire coastline. When you go you must go and visit Ballintoy harbour - it's bliss!!!

a must fav and - amazing. Ive just got a D7000 myself and love it already - question: what lenses would you recommend ?
posted May 17th, 2012
@wardie Hi Paul and thanks for the fav! With regards to lenses the list is long. I have 4 lenses but there are 2 I would strongly recommend - the 50mm F1.4 and the 105mm F2.8 Macro. The prime lenese are the ones to aim for as the difference in quality is amazing.
posted May 17th, 2012
@andysg thanks Andy. I just got the 50 1.4 and need to practice with a shallow DoF. I also got the 12-24 f4 zoom as I love landscapes. Ive heard good things about the 105 f2.8. what were your 16mm shots taken with ?prime again ?
posted May 17th, 2012
@wardie No its a 16-85mm that I bought instead of the the kit lens but I wish I had waited. I am looking to upgrade the body to full frame and the DX lens limit the megapixels as they are fully compatible with the FX bodies. The 105mm is an absolute gem of a lens. It is heavy though and takes you to use a tripod too even though it is VRII.
