Virginia Rail by annepann

Virginia Rail

I was extremely pleased to get this shot of a Virginia Rail. These small marsh birds are very secretive. Taken at Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore.
Wonderful detail - love that eye!

@chard If you haven't been back there recently, I think you would be happy with what the NPS has done there. In particular, they have restored much of the Great Marsh between the lakeshore and US 12. It is a fascinating area in every way.

Three birds I have been searching for at a local lake, the rail, the sora, and the bittern. I am officially jealous! These aren't even fuzzy, way-off shots, they are all gorgeous!
