Bloodroot by annepann

Bloodroot

The Bloodroot is finally up in the woods. I believe those blade shaped leaves in the background are Yellow Trout Lily that hasn't flowered yet. The Bloodroot leaves are the wavy ones that are curled around the stem.
What neat leaves they have - I always forget to study the leaf as it's one of the main ways to identify I've learned.

My Mom has a bunch of these in her woods and well as a lot of trout lilies. The trout lilies we saw this week weren't budding yet either.
