I have a couple of weeks easier and then the rest of the month full on so I am going with the theme Things Aussie for this month - that way I can draw on images that I have when times get tough!
This week is Aussie fauna!
I love love love kookaburras - I am always chuffed to see them in the garden and do not mind when the laughter of many wakes me in the wee hours - they are so full of character.
Excellent POV. I can only assume that we can expect a lot of shots of Kiwi icons for your "Things Aussie" month...you Aussies seem to like to steal our stuff but I'm prepared to part with Crowded House and the Finn brothers as well as Russell Crowe because, well...yachting and rugby...you suck and we don't :))
A lovely close-up shot --When I was a small child , the name Kookaburra created intrigue and some kind of magic to me .and all I had as an image was on the little cards that were given free with PG Tips ( a brand of tea ) I use to collect these cards and stick them in an album provided with the series . different series eg Wild Animals of the world , Birds of the world , British birds -- etc etc !! .... fav for the beautiful image and for bringing back memories !
I love them too and we have three regular visitors, One we have named Onewing (who has a floppy wing) I think she hit a window at some point in her life, but she seems to cope with flying. Another who is called One Eye for obvious reasons, he got in a fight when he was a youngster and the third one who I think is Onewing's significant other, who we call Squawk because when he visits I say "which one are you" and he says Squawk. ha ha.
Super focus and capture, their call is quite ear-splitting isn't it!!
On your question about yesterday's photo Annie, I make sure all my alcohol markers are stored as you see them then both nibs will stay saturated also even when I colour with them I lid them immediately i finish even if I'm using them again in a moment or two, I never ever lay them down unlidded and I can honestly say I have never had one dry out on me. I also have them on the desk out of direct sunlight so they don't get baked in sunshine, this works well as I have had my pens a long time, some of them are 5-6 years old. Now for a long list of the types I have;
Pro-markers- my oldest and I still love them
Pro-markers-flex brush nib, my very first brush marker which made me get Copics
Copics- my second brush markers, love them even more!
Graph'it markers
Graphmaster markes
Spectrum Noir ILLUSTRATOR pens-love the brush nib and the colours and cheaper than copics
Tonic Nuvo markers
And in watercolours I have
Spectrum Noir aqua
Tombow watercolours
Tim Holtz distress markers
Zig clean colour brush pens
Spectrum Noir SPARKLE PENS
got to say I love them all, use them all, and would hate to part with any of them!!
Hope this answers your question, if you want to know anything else please feel free to ask, be pleased to help if I can!!
@craftymeg oh wow! Thank you for answering....I don't know that I am familiar with the brands but do know the types...if that makes sense...next time I am at the art shop I will check it out more closely ☺
We used to sing a song in Girl Scouts about kookaburras but I had no idea then what they were- it was just a fun song to sing. Now that I know what they are (thanks to 365 and my wonderful Aussie friends here!) the song makes so much more sense!! I love this shot in every way shape and form! I just wonder how you were able to capture it. There are no birds in my backyard that would ever let me take a picture of them from above. Absolute fav!
