Ghost nets, or fishing nets abandoned or lost at sea, pose a massive threat to marine life and birds. Net is collected from the beaches by rangers and several Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities are now turning these destructive materials into works of art.
Erub Erwer Meta (Darnley Island Arts Centre) turns these deadly materials into these beautiful works of art - Garom the rock cod and Dauma the mud crab.
