Scenes from 2

Drove the Bells Line of Road - an area badly affected by the January fires - had been as far as Mount Tomah before but had not continued further onto Mt Victoria. The devastation in these areas is so bad. While there is some regeneration already it will take many years for the bushland to recover :(
It must have been quite a distressing drive to see the devastation after the fires.

What a bummer, to say the least. Hopefully, it will regenerate quicker than anticipated.

An unpleasant sight but how beautiful. Great composition and tones.

@onewing it was Babs - we drove to a few areas in January not long after to support local businesses and it was so sad - I cried driving up the Bells Line of Road through Bilpin - and again when we went to Wingello - the area from Mt Tomah to Mount Victoria and apparently to Lithgow also has been badly ravaged

@ludwigsdiana sadly more burnt bushland but there were some more pleasant views too

The ferocity off these fires and the long term damage is unthinkable. We stood at a lookout at Mt Wilson not long ago and there was Very little regrowth but the freaky part..,, not a sound, no birds, no insects just dead silence 🙁 Sad to see Bilpin is still like this too.

I saw an article just now that an estimated 3 billion animals were hurt/killed/displaced. boggles the mind. @mazoo

I do hope nature will surprise us with its resilience and that something as large as those devastating fires won't happen again. This picture really is a stark reminder of how important it is for us to take care of what we've been given rather than destroy it.

When I see scenes like this and in the current situation, I can't help but wonder if the final days are upon us...

@olivetreeann @vignouse it was surreal and confronting driving through the fire ravaged areas

Hopefully by spring time this will look a lot greener. The bush here in Victoria does tend to recover quickly after terrible devastation like this.
