Join me on the journey

Hello, hello!

I've missed you all, but I've been quite busy, spending April really focusing in on Boost Your Photography and building up its social media presence. Thank you to all of those who follow along and support the site in any way! :)

While I definitely missed all of you and the constant inspiration that is 365, the month away gave me a chance to step back and really evaluate my time and how best to spend it. And I think that after more than three straight years of daily photography, I have earned a bit of a reprieve. I definitely can't quit my 365 addiction, but I'm going to be popping in less than daily, and if that isn't your style, I'll understand.

I am also launching a 52 Weeks Challenge over on Boost Your Photography and would love to have you join! I am trying to start a Google+ Photography Community to help encourage new photographers in a little less of an intimidating commitment than 365. You can read more about it here: http://www.boostyourphotography.com/2014/04/byp52weeks.html. If you would like to join in (and I would LOVE to have you), you can find the community itself here: https://plus.google.com/u/0/communities/106535335083159264887. (Ask to join via your G+ account; it's a security step to avoid spammers.) I would love to have some help in growing a sense of community and encouraging newbies, which so many of you are so great at!

Ok, I think that's enough updates and shameless plugs for one photo. Took a quick stop off on the way to work to try and make the best of the constant rain/fog we've been having, and this was my favorite of the bunch.
Hi Kate, Great to have you back, note I said Kate and not Katie. I will certainly look at the site and support as best I can.

Kate, I have just tried to join it but it is telling me I need an invite?????

@oopsadaisy Thanks, Daisy! There should be something where you can ask to join (you need a G+ account), and then I will approve it. It takes that extra step just to avoid spammers or non-photographers from causing problems.

(Let me know if that doesn't make sense. Since I started the group, I don't know what it looks like from the outside. ..) @oopsadaisy

@amandal :) Thanks! Only almost got run over by one biker, so that's not too bad.

Looks like the bike path near Picnic Point. I won't be joining on 52. I didn't like the Google privacy issues and closed my G+ account.

Katie! It's wonderful to see a picture of yours again. It's a good one, especially considering the new road you're taking on your website.

Hey Katie -- great to see you!!! And of course it's a wonderful shot from a low POV. Congrats on all the strong social media work. I've seen you in the DPS blasts and am excited for you. I'll check in on the 52 project. I'm also having trouble keeping up with daily and have gotten sort of lax on the photo-a-day, focusing instead on work on processing from sets of photos I've taken within the month. Anyway, good to see you back for a bit even if it's now and then!

Hi Katie, is that a rails-to-trails path? I can't wait to get on my bike and it looks just like the ones we ride. Glad you're back!

Nice to see you Katie and though I might miss your postings I will try to keep an eye out for you, lol. I just don't seem to see everyone's posts from here down under. I will head over and check out your 52 project and will join in if I can.
Great pov you used here and perfect shot for your post.

@oopsadaisy Thanks for joining, Daisy! I am hoping for it to be interesting and inspiring too.

@amandal Thanks so much, Amanda! We'll see how my tenuous 'strike a balance' efforts go. :)

@bill_fe 'Tis of course. Been walking it a lot and was hoping it would be more foggy that morning.

@lyndemc Thanks so much, Denise! I'm not always one for 'symbolic' but I definitely was thinking in that vein when I sought out this one.

@kwiksilver Cool, yay! Excited to have you and hope it proves useful! :)

@mzzhope Aww, thanks so much, Hope! I am constantly learning so much from this community, that I just couldn't stay away.

@taffy Thanks so much, Taffy! The social media stuff has been interesting, but at least as much of a drag on my time as 365! Hoping the challenge works out and draws in some new audience too.

@hshdebbie Thanks, Debbie! Nope, this one is actually around the lake in town and has been a walking/biking path ever since its inception, but we do have tons of those types of paths around here too.

@bella_ss Thanks so much for your thoughts and feedback, Sheralee! I find that I was constantly missing people's shots unless I looked them up directly.

@salza Excited to have you join in, Sally, thanks!

@alia_801 Aww, thanks, Alia! You know I can't stay away. :)

@whatsfordessert Thanks for the feedback, and excited to have you join the challenge!

@pflaume Thanks so much, Lisa! I think it will be a fun project, for sure!

@anazad511 Thanks so much for the feedback and the fav! I find my point-and-shoot gets better results for this kind of shot (crop sensor and all).

Great perspective for this shot. It is could to see a photo from you. If I join the Boost Your photography challenge in mid or late May, would that be too late? I am really busy at the present.
posted May 3rd, 2014
@daisymiller Not at all! I hope it will continue to grow and attract people as we go. :)

Sounds like you are doing some great things outside 365! I've become more involved in the Photo club I've joined and now am trying to post a few shots each week on their facebook page plus submit shots for the newsletter. That will preclude me from joining your 52 weeks project but I really hope it goes well! Actually, I'm sure it will!
