This is our lovely daughter, Joy, who is with us for just over two weeks this Easter. She will be 25 this coming autumn and is autistic with moderate to severe learning disabilities.
She lives in a shared house with three other young ladies in the West Midlands, cared for by a brilliant team from AutismWestMidlands. When we were away at the end of last week, we were travelling upcountry to collect her and bring her home.
It's always a bit of a shock to the system when she's home simply because we forget how demanding and time-consuming it was looking after her 24/7/365 for sixteen years! Now we are two, it's quite a big change when she comes home and we are three. We have to tune-up our sixth senses so we are aware of where she is and what she's doing at all times.
It was sunny yesterday but the wind was cold - not that it's ever deterred Joy from getting wet!
Joy must really love the water! So nice she is visiting.. when my son or daughter visit, I get spooked by the unusual noises..! Happy Easter to your entire family!
