Cotinus coggygria "Royal Purple"

Weatherwise today have been all over the place... from sunshine to heavy rain showers and back to sunshine again, this sequence have been repeating several times today... right after one of the showers late in the afternoon I took a quick tour around our garden with my camera in hand.

Our garden is an old one and it's very clear that the people who planned out this garden really had a love for gardening, because there's a wide variety of plants, trees and shrubs in all kinds of colours - and one of my favorites is this beautiful shrub (is it a shrub... it's huge almost like a tree). It's latin name is Cotinus coggygria in the "Royal Purple" variety (sorry - don't know the English name for it, in Danish it's called a "Parykbusk"). It has these beautiful deep purple leaves (and it's flowers are a delicate light yellow colour... but it has not started to bloom yet, so we still have that in store).

The previous showers of rain mixed with the late afternoon sun now peeking through the clouds resulted in an amazing light between the leaves bringing out those amazing hues, and I just couldn't resist them...
